City launches Community Jobs site helping residents find local work

Community Jobs

October 2011 - Surprise residents looking for jobs close to home have a new tool at their disposal: a job-search site focusing exclusively on jobs within city limits.

Any business that has a City of Surprise business license can post jobs on the web site at no charge. Job seekers can visit the site and connect with companies offering work.

“This helps Surprise businesses and residents,” says Surprise Community and Economic Development Director Jeff Mihelich.  “The site helps employers find employees who live close to work, which research shows is an important factor in employee satisfaction.”

The site is a team effort involving the Information Technology, Communications and Community and Economic Development Departments.

“This is a new venture and may take a little time to take off, so we encourage people to spread the word,” adds Mihelich. “We are looking for as many local employers to post jobs as possible.”

The site also includes a link to the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Job Fair calendar.
