Neighborhood Watch training - Sep. 15
The Surprise Police Department Crime Prevention Unit will host Neighborhood Watch Introductory Training, starting this fall.

The one-day training sessions will be held every second Wednesday of the month, starting September 15, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., in the Public Safety Auditorium, 14250 W. Statler Plaza.

Compassionate Surprise Series: “Go Red! Heart Disease and Women” - Sep. 18
This event will feature guest speaker, Dr. Kay Turk, a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner, Professor of Nursing and the current Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. Dr. Turk has traveled extensively while teaching and practicing nursing and has been able to observe how heart disease affects women from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Fall Clean-up Event - Sep. 18
The Fall Clean-up Event is for Surprise Residents only. Residents will be required to show proof of residency by presenting an electric bill to Waste Management Weigh Station.

The residents can dispose of a single load that weights up to 2,000 pounds and contains Residential Waste at no cost.

Hazardous items will not be accepted so hang on to them and you can bring these items such as paint, tires, pesticides and pool chemicals. We will accept them at the October 9, 2010 H.H.W. from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Public Works Maintenance Yard at 13433 W. Foxfire Drive.

Fiesta Surprise - Sep. 18
Come celebrate with Surprise! This FREE family event will highlight Surprise’s heritage and the 50th Anniversary of the City of Surprise. This unique event will feature live entertainment, a custom car and bike show, a youth art contest, great food and fun for the whole family!
