Fireworks use prohibited within city limits
Surprise, AZ (May 31, 2012) “For those who plan on doing the traditional fireworks on the 4th of July, please remember that it is prohibited to use them within city limits,” says Fire Chief Michel White.
State law allows the sale of fireworks throughout Arizona; however the same law also allows individual jurisdictions to refuse the use of fireworks within the respective city or town boundaries.
In 2010, the City Council approved an ordinance that prohibits fireworks use within the city limits of Surprise.
To report fireworks use within city limits please call the Surprise Police Department at 623.222.4000.
A reminder that fireworks vendors are required to obtain a city business license; inspection certificate from the Surprise Fire Department and post the inspection certificate at each cash register and in each area in which the fireworks are sold.
