ADOT talks Grand Avenue Widening on Surprise 11
SURPRISE, AZ (October 27, 2009) One of the state's largest road improvement projects is underway along Grand Avenue and Surprise residents can learn more about it in the latest episode of On the Road airing on Surprise 11, and online at www.surpriseaz.com/surprise11.
Work is already underway on the widening of Grand Avenue, from 83rd Avenue to 99th Avenue, with expansion work starting within Surprise city limits after the first of the year. Widening Grand Avenue to six lanes from Sun City through Surprise north to the Loop 303 will continue through 2010 with all work complete by 2011.
“This will be a project that our residents will have to get through for the next 18 months, so it is important that they have the accurate information about what to expect and that’s what they will see in the latest On the Road show,” says Communications Director Ken Lynch.
Show host Public Information Officer Diane Arthur interviews Arizona Department of Transportation spokesman Doug Nintzel for an in depth conversation about the Grand Avenue Widening project and the Loop 303 intersection improvements at Bell, Cactus and Waddell roads. Those improvements will be followed by the widening of the 303 to six lanes in 2012.
