Fall Events and Classes for Boomers in Surprise

Surprise, AZ (October 26) Surprise Community and Recreation Services is proud to offer new classes and events in November for Boomers age 50 and better!

AARP Safe Driving Course - Nov. 6 at 12:30 p.m. Four hours of class instruction, which many insurance companies recognize with a discount. Register by phone or in person at Surprise Senior Center, 15832 Hollyhock St.  Registrants will be asked to bring a check to class payable to AARP for $12.

Music Appreciation - Starts Monday Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. Listen to John Callas as he describes the intricacies of the musical compositions then enjoy the music in a whole new way! This is a free class, but pre-registration is required. This semester will focus on Holiday classics. Class meets Nov. 9 & 23, Dec. 7 & 21 at Surprise Senior Center.

Fall Swap Meet -The Biannual Surprise Super Outdoor Swap Meet will be held at the Aquatics Center Parking Lot, 15831 N. Bullard Ave., Sat., November 7 from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. - sponsored by the Surprise Senior Center Site Council.  

Over 75 vendors will display their new and used wares.  Parking and admission are free. The public is invited to come and browse for bargains.  The Senior Center will also have a drop box at the Swap Meet for recycling old cell phones. 

Woodstock Flashback Boomers Dance Party,  Nov. 14, 7:30 p.m., Sierra Montana Recreation Center, 14861 N. Spring Lane. Period music, plus prizes for the Best Hippy Outfit and a Famous Guitar Riffs Trivia contest. Tickets are $8 and are available at the Senior Center, Community & Recreation Office on Bullard, or Sierra Montana Recreation Center on Spring Lane.  

One Stroke Painting -Learn this unique method that uses brushes and brush loading in a special way to create outstanding results. Each class is $6, presented in two levels at Surprise Senior Center.

Nov 20 Level II- complete project piece: Snowman Ornament.

Dec   4  Level I -learn technique

Dec. 18 Level II -complete project piece: Candle Ornament.
