Kolb to serve as Interim Surprise Assistant City Manager

Surprise, AZ (October 1, 2009) George Kolb has accepted the position to serve as the City of Surprise Interim Assistant City Manager, City Manager Randy Oliver announced Thursday.

Kolb was the former City Manager of Wichita, Kansas, a community of 364,000 people. He currently serves as the Interim City Administrator/Consultant for Valley Center, Kansas.

Kolb has a B.S. from Eastern Michigan University, an M.P.A. from the University of Michigan and a Certificate - Senior Executive in State and Local Government program from the John F. Kennedy School at Harvard. 

"I know George will be a great asset to our city," says Oliver. "He will bring the experience and credibility we need in an assistant city manager.  He is well versed in following the ICMA (International City/County Management Association) Code of Ethics and has a history of providing sound administrative leadership and best management practices."

Kolb will be paid $141,000 annually, plus benefits.

Kolb will begin his service with the city on October 19.
