Registration underway for Surprise Youth Basketball and Winter Sports Camps

 

SURPRISE, AZ (November 26, 2008) Looking for a way for your kids to avoid those cabin fever blues?  Then sign them up for the Surprise Community and Recreation Services Department’s Youth Basketball League for boys and girls ages 5-15, or one or all four of the different Sports Camps for various ages during the holiday break. Registration is going on now!

 

Youth Basketball: The Youth Basketball League will teach boys and girls, ages 5 – 15, the game of basketball in the spirit of sportsmanship, fun and wholesome competition. The season will begin early January. Registration is available at the Community and Recreation Services Offices, 15960 N. Bullard Avenue, or on-line at www.surpriseaz.com/recreation. Late registration fee for residents is $50 or $65 for non-residents.

 

Youth Soccer Camp: Coaches and players from the Arizona Fury Soccer Club will teach boys and girls, ages 4-12, the basic fundamentals of the game of soccer in a safe and fun environment. The camp will be held December 22-23, from 8 a.m. – Noon.

 

Winter Break Baseball Camp: Campers between the ages of 7-18 will learn the basic fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing and base running. This three-day camp will run December 26-28, from 8 a.m. – Noon.

 

Youth Boys Volleyball Camp: NEW PROGRAM Coaches and players from the Valley Vista High School Volleyball Team will teach boys, 10-18 years old, volleyball skills such as serving, passing, setting, hitting and blocking. Participants will also be provided with experience in game situations during the two-day camp offered December 29-30, from 8 a.m. – Noon.

 

Youth Basketball Camp: Coaches will teach the basic fundamentals of basketball including shooting, dribbling, passing and footwork during this one-day camp, January 10, which is open to boys and girls, 5-15 years old.

 

Registration for all of the Winter Camps will be available until December 19, with a Special Saturday Resident Registration on December 6, from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. Registration is also available on-line at www.surpriseaz.com/recreation.
