Greater Surprise Chamber of Commerce is BornSURPRISE, AZ (September 28, 2007) The Surprise city council approved an agreement Thursday between Surprise and the Northwest Valley Chamber of Commerce creating the Greater Surprise Chamber of Commerce.
“By joining forces and forming the Greater Surprise Chamber of Commerce, we will be able to better serve the businesses of Surprise and have more success in stimulating new business growth in the area,“ says Economic Development Director John Hagen.
The newly-reinvented chamber also aims to attract and serve home-based businesses in the area, which is good news to the more than 500 home-based businesses in Surprise.
The Greater Surprise Chamber of Commerce also proposes the launch of new initiatives that would provide local businesses with a collective regional voice in helping to preserve Luke A.F.B and establish a legislative affairs connection. Education and workforce committees are also proposed.
“The city council has studied for sometime the idea of creating a Surprise Chamber of Commerce and found that this partnership was a perfect fit,” adds Hagen. “This allows us to take advantage of the good work started by the Northwest Valley Chamber and expand it, without having to start from scratch in building a membership base.”
The anticipated cost to the city for this agreement is $50,000 in FY 2008.
